Following a bachelors degree in Industrial Design, Ryan began his career working for an industry-leading optical equipment manufacturer. This role combined his passion for photography, astronomy, and design engineering, by contributing to the development of a robotic astrophotography telescope system. Since then, Ryan has pursued innovation across a wide range of products, from hospital lighting to sound-absorbing acoustic panels.
Backed by a thorough understanding of design thinking, human-centered design, and other creative problem-solving techniques, he is known for considering human interaction throughout his design process. As an avid traveler who has spent significant periods of time in several countries around the world, he draws upon these experiences to bring a high level of awareness and perspective to his work.
Following a master’s degree from Cranbrook Academy of Art, he moved to Paris, France for three years to deepen his global perspective. In 2026, after fourteen years of living, learning, and working in cities such as Los Angeles, Seoul, Detroit, and Paris, Ryan returned to Portland, Oregon, to further develop his career and support his home-state community.
